This is an interesting article about the possibility that intellectual property rights might actually stifle innovation. Apple vs HTC is the latest in a series of suits in which a competitor attempts to squash another through litigation. This would seem to have a chilling effect upon a small player with an idea that could be an improvement on existing technology, one that inspired a new direction. This is not to say that I'm for creating knockoff products, but I'm curious at what point a new entrant is considered materially different from a current, established product.
